This is the template that I use to tackle any type of big and seemingly overwhelming task:

Specific Requirements

Completion Checklist

Possible components (brain dump)

Ordered specific steps, with time allocation and dates. Do steps and time allocation first. Then add dates.

Project checkpoints (office hours, draft reads, etc.)

Risks and ways to avoid them
